Jolieba is soulful, funky, and dynamic. She dances from a place of joy and inspiration.
Jolieba graduated with a B.A. in World Arts & Cultures from UCLA. Hip-Hop, Funk Styles, House, Capoeira, Afro-Brazilian, West African, Salsa & Contemporary dance influence her movement style and choreography. Her dance teachers include Annie Rosenthal-Parr, Mestre Amen Santo, Suga Pop, Popin Pete, Ana Maria-Alvarez, Maria Gillesspi, Ana “Lollipop” Sanchez, Rennie Harris, & Germaine Acogny.
D.A.N.C.E. (Dance & Arts Nurture Creativity & Excitement) is an organization, founded by Jolieba Jackson, which reaches out to the youth of Los Angeles by offering creative services such as performances, classes, and workshops. D.A.N.C.E. strives to give youth access and opportunity to resources and information, integrating arts and education with the goal to develop the skills and self-esteem young people need in order to succeed not only in the arts but also in life. D.A.N.C.E. wishes to promote diversity, creativity, learning, team- work, and community. D.A.N.C.E. believes that a quality education is a creative education and that through art people can become more conscious, caring, and social active members of society.
Mission Statement:
The mission statement of D.A.N.C.E. is to provide youth access to arts resources that will allow them the opportunity to develop the skills and tools to excel in the arts, to exchange and collaborate ideas, and to create and perform work for their communities. D.A.N.C.E. aims to help youth flourish by building growth, self-confidence, cultural awareness and real connections.
